Africa is confronted by a myriad social and economic problems. These can only be overcome by massive investment in entrepreneurial ventures. Everybody agrees that this should be so, yet very little in terms of both education and financial commitments are available to people.
A glimpse into Kiva.org shows that there are no organized financial lenders for Southern African businesses. This is a very serious thing for many aspiring entrepreneurs.
The idea of measuring success based on political stability in a country must be studied anew. Apartheid South Africa offered many business opportunities for overseas and local investors; Angola and the DRC in the throws of bloody civil wars provided investment opportunities, Israel and troubled Iraq do the same. Where are the scholars of our continent to provide guidance? And more so, where are those investors?
Africa can emerge. Somebody write a book and help budding entrepreneurs like us to navigate our way to a prosperous continent.
